Winter / Holiday Break Hand Sewing Monster Plush Craft Class

In this class, learners will hand sew a monster plush using craft felt. Learners will have the opportunity to practice running stitch, blanket stitch, and/or whip stitch for plushie construction, as well as sewing at least one button.

Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10

Beginner Level

During this class, learners will make a monster plush from craft felt. The instructor will demonstrate basic hand sewing techniques (running stitch, blanket stitch, and whip stitch) which learners can practice on a piece of scrap felt and receive live feedback. Learners will draw a simple monster outline on their felt with marker and cut out two copies. The instructor will demonstrate how to sew on a button. Students will be able to recognize and execute/demonstrate a running stitch, blanket stitch, and whip stitch in hand sewing.

Students will be able to design, assemble, and critique a unique plush made of felt, thread, and stuffing.

I have over a decade of experience with hand sewing, including experience creating theatrical props and costume pieces.
