Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
As Space is becoming increasingly important in countries around the world, young space enthusiasts seek to learn more about the Universe, and the mysteries it holds. In this class, we take on that challenge, diving deep into the weirdest space findings scientists have discovered in recent times. This one-time course is open to all learners who want to truly find out some fantastic, and down-right weird, and often unexplainable space discoveries. This class combines tons of Space Science,...
Students will be able to identify several of the weirdest things found in space, and will be able to discuss these and even teach others what they have learned.
I have always had a love of space, from the moment my grandpa, an amateur astronomer, let me look through the 10-foot telescope he built all by himself, to watching shuttles & satellites lift into the sky, and watching some fall back to the earth. I have spotted some of the largest dust storms to hit Mars, and have enjoyed looking at the various craters on our Moon and seeing the rings around Saturn, all from my own backyard in Missouri & while using other telescopes my grandpa built. I have never ceased my exploration and search, looking to the skies to watch for eclipses, comets, and so much more! My love of all things Space has only increased with time, and I feel it is the next great wave of the future! As a teacher with a Master’s Degree in Teaching & over 30 years of experience working with children of various ages, and more than 5 years teaching students about Space as an amateur astronomer, as well as other Science-related subject-matter, I love sharing my knowledge with the next generation. My hope is to instill the awe-inspiring beauty the Unknown Universe holds, as well as encourage students to dream and believe! I hope to see you in class as we explore the weirdness of Space together!

Parents will need to help learners log into the Outschool Classroom, as well as help them turn on their cameras, and use the "mute" button when not speaking or answering questions. There will be a lot of interaction throughout our class, but teacher may "mute" learners during the learning portion so all learners are able to hear teacher (this cuts out background/disturbing noises), and helps us all have an amazing learning time together! *Links to Youtube videos regarding topics of discussion may be added to the Outschool Classroom, and some of these may be shown during class time, as needed to help learners visualize these topics. The links will be shared after the class in the Outschool classroom for learners & family to view together after class.
