In this 4 session flex Music class, beginning ukulele students will learn to play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" both as a solo and as an accompaniment.
Class Experience
In this 4 week flex class, beginning ukulele students will learn to pick and strum "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". No prior knowledge is required, but it is recommended that students take my "Wipe Out" class first, where I explain how to read ukulele tablature (tabs). The students need to already have their ukuleles tuned to the notes G, C, E and A. In the first class (week 1), students will learn the basics of playing the ukulele--how to hold their ukuleles and play these basic chords: C, C7...
Homework Offered
The only homework for this class will be practicing what we learned in class. I will send students an optional practice log to keep track of their practice.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Each student will receive personalized written feedback for each each audio/video recording they submit. Written feedback will include things that they excelled at and things they need to practice.Grades Offered
The students will need an ukulele that is already tuned to the notes G, C, E and A. I will provide a practice log. I will also send weekly sections of the song to practice and then a 2 page handout with the strumming, accompaniment version and the solo picking version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
