Beginner Level
This 4 week class will cover the basics of simple subtraction for first grade students. In week 1, students will learn how to read equations, breaking down the math "sentences" into the correct numbers of items, understanding the importance of order, etc. By week 2, students will learn how to process simple subtraction problems using real world items as references. This will build in the deeper concrete element of learning that students need to really understand what they are doing. In weeks...
I am a published learning and development theorist, specializing in early math and early reading. I've taught students of all ages across a wide spectrum of subjects. Some of my previous first grade students have been able to learn simple addition & subtraction, concepts behind multiplication, and even algebra (solving for "n" in problems using simple addition and subtraction).
Homework Offered
Weekly assignments will be suggested. Students whose parents help foster learning outside of this class, using the recommended assignments formats, will benefit even more.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
