In this 60 minute creative coding class, students will code a treasure hunt game in the MIT-created program Scratch. Limited to 3 students per class.

Beginner - Intermediate Level
Students will code a game where they can pilot their very own submarine to hunt for treasure using Scratch, a block-based programming language developed at MIT. This class has been designed for students ages 7-10 with any level of coding experience - all are welcome! The class is maxed at 3 students! After completing this class, students will be comfortable coding and creating projects with Scratch. Even more importantly, they will have gained an understanding of foundational coding concepts including sequencing, loops, conditional statements, and variables. At Cypher, our goal is to help students become future-ready, and we know that these core skills will serve our students for the rest of their lives.

Your student will need: - A Scratch account. Visit https://scratch.mit.edu/ to create a free account. - Access to a laptop or desktop computer with Zoom installed and screen-sharing enabled - An internet connection of 3mbs+ - A working speaker, microphone and webcam - all Windows and Mac operating systems of the past five years are supported Note: iPads are not compatible with this class. Please make sure an adult is on hand for the first five minutes of class to help set-up and tackle troubleshooting.

Students will use Scratch to participate in class. Students must access the Scratch account using a laptop or a computer in class (no smartphone or tablets). Students will use their own Scratch account to code while following instructions from the teacher.
