Class Experience
Sunny the Puppet and Dr. Hamilton will help lead the students through an examination of water-based marker colors through chromatography. Students will be able to understand the purpose of chromatography, ways it is used in science, and how it works. After seeing how to do the experiment, students will then have time to do the experiment themselves. They will record their data and share with the rest of the group. Large Coffee Filters cut into 1" x 6"(or longer) strips - have at least 6 strips
(usually it is possible to get this from 1 or 2 large coffee filters)
Large Coffee Filters (whole - at least 2 of them...more, if possible)
Clear tape
paper towel (cloth could work but should be thin enough to dry off drops of water inside the cup with part of the cup blocked)
Since this session will require some water, parents should ensure that the water will not be near the electronic equipment being used by the student.
