In these 1x/week reading workshop classes, students will get opportunities to focus on the specific, and fundamental, skills of reading and writing. They will use guided analysis strategies to comprehend the reading and write responses.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4

Advanced Level

In this level 5 workshop, students will learn key reading analysis skills that they will use to comprehend and provide a written response to a passage. We will read 2 passages per class: one together, one individually. 

This workshop will meet 1x/week for 45 minutes, for 2 weeks. If your student enrolls in week 2 of this workshop as well, they will read a different genre than week 1 (genres are nonfiction and fiction).

Hi! I'm Ms. Chapman and I have spent the past 8 years teaching school-aged children how to read! I have incorporated individualized educational plan strategies, behavioral therapy strategies, and public school strategies to create as realistic-as-possible fun and engaging online reading class! I call myself a reading specialist, but you can just call me Ms. Chapman or Ms. C. I love to read and I will happily help your student learn to read, and hopefully they, too, will love reading one day! Either way, learning to read with me is always an experience that has allowed my students to better engage in their future classrooms and find success completing their next grade-level expectations in all subjects, in addition to English and Literature.

Assessments (2) are optional assignments accessible upon enrollment. These assessments are viewable and downloadable for home use as they will not be used in class. This is a resourceful tool to ensure that you and your learner understand their current reading and writing skill levels. You have the option to also send your student's completed assessment back to me to receive feedback.
Grades Offered

  1 file available upon enrollment
At the start of each class, each student should have 1-2 pieces of lined paper and a pencil/pen and/or the *optional teacher provided print-outs. Students may also use a dry erase board to write answers during class.
