Reading Comprehension Practice With Animal Crossing

In this ongoing class, students play Animal Crossing and practice reading comprehension skills by discussing the vocabulary used in the game.

While Animal Crossing New Horizons is an engaging game, it is also a great way for students to practice their reading comprehension and vocabulary skills! In each class, students (and the instructor) will play Animal Crossing New Horizons. When students interact with characters in the game, they will read the dialogue to the class and together we will define unknown words and discuss what the speech bubbles are communicating. Students will improve their reading comprehension skills by reading short texts and participating in discussions. Students will improve their vocabulary by reading short texts, using context clues, and defining unknown words.
The instructor is a certified Teacher of English (K-12) and Reading Specialist (P-12) with over 10 years of teaching experience. She also plays Animal Crossing daily :).
