In this on-going course, students will learn the short-cuts and tricks to finding answers hidden within a text. They will learn skills to help them better understand what they are reading and apply it to be able to answer questions.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4

In this course, your child will learn how to better understand the passages they are reading. They will learn how to look for clues within a passage to find the answers to questions being asked and to do so in a timely fashion. Many times, students are timed in class and must read a passage and find the answers to questions about that passage within a set amount of time. This can lead to anxiety and poor report card grades. Students will CONFIDENTLY be able to read and answer questions from a text in a timely manner.

I have 6 years experience teaching Language Arts to students grades 3-5 in a public school classroom. I am specially trained in reading recovery.

Homework Offered
There will be times that I will ask students to complete a reading and answer questions outside of class. These will be no longer than one page long and should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. These will be provided well in advance of our meeting times and are to ensure that we get the most of our live time together.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will regularly communicate with parents about the progress the student is making on each standard. I will assess students using an online assessment (created by me) that will enable me to identify strengths and areas of weakness that we need to work on together.
Grades Offered

Students will need a pencil/pen and should keep a notebook dedicated to this course and bring it to each class.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Google Forms
Gimkit

We will occasionally utilize Google Forms to answer questions about a passage.
