Reading Comprehension 3rd Grade to 5th Grade : Arctic Animal Exploration
In this 12-week course, students will be exploring a different arctic animal each session, while strengthening their reading skills.

In this course, students will be introduced to a new animal in each class. The current 12-week session covers a variety of arctic animals. We will research their habitats, characteristics, and mannerisms. By the end of this session, students will be experts over a group of species in a specific area in the world! Class Structure: 1. This class is taught in English.
Students will gain knowledge over a new species in each session, as we research animals, their habitats, and what makes them special. They will gain skill practice in various reading comprehension strategies, as well as grow their creative muscles with an art tutorial at the end of the lesson.
I have a degree in elementary education (k-6) and about 15 years of experience in teaching children. I specialize in teaching reading and writing strategies.

Students should come to class with these items: -paper -pencil -(optional) colored pencils, for after class
We will refer to texts from various sources to help build knowledge over that particular animal. Students will have access to these texts through the teacher made slides shown in class.
