Personalized Reading Assessment - Elementary Readers - Grades K Through 6
Teacher Samantha will take your learner through a simple assessment process to assess their reading level and give recommendations as to what area they could focus on to further build skills and become a better reader.
Class Experience
Students will have the opportunity to learn more about their current reading abilities, strengths and weaknesses. Teacher Samantha will have each student do a reading interest survey, a spelling inventory, and a writing sample during the class session. The student will learn more about their current reading ability and what steps they can take to improve their reading skills, through a simple yet thorough assessment.
Samantha is certified in Early Childhood/Elementary Education in the state of Pennsylvania (US). She has pursued her Masters as a Reading Specialist at The University of Pittsburgh, received a BS in Education at Slippery Rock University in PA, and received a BFA in Theater at Roosevelt University. Research-based best practices in teaching reading are incorporated and continually updated. She currently works as a professional actor and a substitute teacher out of Pittsburgh, PA.

2 files available upon enrollmentYou have the option to download and print the 1) spelling inventory sheet and 2) writing sample copies which you will fill out - but if you are unable to do so simply having blank sheets of paper will work fine. You will also need two sharpened pencils.
Assessments are based on "Word Their Way" by Bear, Invernizzi, Johnson, and Templeton, and "Making Sense of Phonics" by Beck and Beck.
