This is a fun low key way to practice different styles of cursive, try different papers, and even some accomodations for dyslexia and dysgraphia. I like using Poe's Poetry and hope to plan a similar class with other classical literature.

The Raven is a poem about grief. Since we are also exploring poetry, I will reference and read some examples of poetry which includes religious poetry from other languages, part of the song, Will you still love me by the Sharelles, (original English and a part Spanish version) and Don't Mess Around with Jim from Jim Croce. Please familiarize yourself with the lyrics. We will discuss how we experience emotions and why we would read about grief. I will reference Yoga psychology with the goal of showing "Beauty" in all emotions (for example, you cannot define grief without having first known joy). This is a secular class however and we are discussing human experience, not religious experience. The pieces chosen are merely comparing the different ways different languages evoke emotions.
The Raven and The Philosophy of Composition by Edgar Allan Poe. Any version is fine, there are some nice inexpensive illustrated ones and it is in the public domain. I will also offer it as a PDF.
