With this visual journal, mixed media art class, you will be introduced to 6 tips and techniques to better collage. A collage is a work of art created by bringing flat materials together and layering them, such as magazine images, photographs, text, pattern paper, and more. Students will be introduced to and experiment with mixed media art, using multiple art materials, creating collages, and finding inspiration to create a unique work of art in their visual journal.
I can't remember not having art in my life. I was raised by an art teacher, got my bachelor's and master's in art education, taught art-focused summer camps, volunteered in art classrooms, and taught high school art for over 12 years. Now I develop art lessons and curriculums for other teachers or homeschool parents to implement in their art classrooms. Used hardback book to work in, magazines, glue, scissors, additional flat materials such as printed pictures, scrapbook paper, and similar they want to collage with.
Students will control what the subject matter is in their own artwork and I don't show anything that could be upsetting or above a G rating.
Nothing is required outside of Outschool to complete the assignment. However, it is helpful for students to be able to search for visual journal inspiration on Pinterest, YouTube, or similar.
