In this eight week novel study, students will read Linked by Gordon Korman while participating in class discussions, completing comprehension questions, and working on projects.

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8
Intermediate - Advanced Level

Students will be able to:
     - Read and Analyze a Novel
     - Make Connections to the Modern World
     - Participate in Group Discussions
     - Track theme throughout the novel
     - Identify Author Information and a Book Introduction
     - Explain the Historical Connections
     - Analyze the themes of Linked (tolerance, different perspectives, remembrance, change)
     - Define Symbolism within Linked
     - Explain the Character Development and Changes
     - Write a One-Paragraph Essay
I have been a public school teacher in Massachusetts for over ten years. I have taught English to both middle school and high school students of all levels, and I have also taught special education courses during the summer. I love being in the classroom! However, I am on leave in order to stay home with my two young children. 
Homework Offered
Students will need to read about 20-25 pages independently a week. Each week the students should show up having read the assigned chapters we will be discussing. They will be provided with study guide questions to complete with their reading to help them identify important elements of text.

This novel touches on sensitive topics such as anti-semitism, prejudice and racism. It is important students understand the OutSchool Rules and Policies regarding classroom discussions.

This class will not promote a specific religion or religious point of view, or request students to share their personal religious beliefs. We will simply be taking an unbiased approach to analyze the novel and themes.
