Learning Life Skills - Cookies, Candies and Breads, Oh My!
In this four week course, students will learn baking techniques and candy creation.
Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 7
Intermediate Level
Students will learn the basics of kitchen safety, snack making and baking. Desserts and delicious treats will be covered. Your student will be able to follow along or play back the class later to independently grow into a self sufficient person in the kitchen. Each week will include a new food or dessert that is simple and easy but builds skill and technique in the kitchen. Students will learn cleaning standards for home kitchens, knife safety and appliance safety, melting chocolate effectively, coating pretzels or cookies, baking cupcakes and cookies that are cooked to deliciousness!
As a licensed Culinary Arts high school instructor I teach students about the successful use of home and commercial kitchens. Cooking techniques such as sauteing, roasting, boiling, poaching, baking and candy coated are all techniques that I enjoy sharing with students. Cooking at home is a joy when one knows the science, art and habits that make food preparation easy and attractive.
