Beginner Level

In this course, students will learn the basics of acting for stage. Each class will start with an acting warm-up, which consists of some vocal and physical movements that help the voice and the body get ready to be expressive. As a professional and working actor, I have lots to share when it comes to how to approach acting for the first time, and will teach by giving plenty of examples and opportunities for students to practice speaking text, improvising, and reacting to one another. Students will learn tools and strategies for performing and memorizing text, as well as reacting to and acting with a scene partner.

I am a professional actor with over ten years of acting experience. I have performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regionally in the US, and internationally. I also have extensive experience in TV and film.

Homework Offered
Students will be expected to memorize the text they are given on Week 1 and Week 3 for the following weeks. This may take a few hours of outside class time. 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students are given in-class feedback, but no formal assessment.
