Pride means standing with all learners

At Outschool, one of our core values is to “stand with learners.” No matter how someone identifies, we strive to create a space where learning is set free, a place where learners are empowered to be themselves.

Every learner is different, and sometimes our differences have labels. People who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Questioning, Non-binary, and the whole spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities are valid.

Our goal at Outschool is to create a safe space for children to show up authentically and be themselves.

We are saddened that LGBTQ+ rights are currently under attack, and decades of progress are being threatened. We denounce the misinformation and bullying techniques that are harmful to children who identify as LGBTQ+.

As a platform where families can choose the best learning experiences for themselves, Outschool is committed to providing options where all can learn without fear.

We are proud of how our educators create a fun, safe, comfortable, and inclusive space for all our learners. Our content policies follow UNESCO standards on teaching gender and sexuality education in an age-appropriate, accurate, unbiased manner.

To be clear, we celebrate children for who they are.

Practices such as honoring pronouns that accurately describe the learner, and calling people by their correct names, serve to model kindness and consideration for all learners, regardless of their identity.

Most importantly, at Outschool, we are dedicated to cultivating Learner Leadership. We center learner voices, empowering them to tell their own stories, shape their own world, and help us deliver the learner experiences that will prepare them to lead their own future.

What better way to stand with learners than to invite them to tell us what they want to learn? Or, better yet, ask them to teach us what they want us to know!

This month, we are excited to premiere our new Outschool original web series, What I Wish You Knew About. During the inaugural episode, Outschool learners will share what it’s really like to be a teenager within the LGBTQ+ Community.

We’re proud to kick off this ongoing Learner-Led program by highlighting the experiences of four unique members of our Learner Community, and invite you to submit your questions to our panelists. Tune in live on June 23 at 7 pm ET to hear from our Learner Leaders and get your questions answered live.

Check out the links below for details on how to register and submit your questions.

We hope that you will join our commitment to supporting all learners.
