Hayao Miyazaki's Movie, "Kiki's Delivery Service," and The Book Behind It (Flex)

In this 4 week course, the student will be reading the book, "Kiki's Delivery Service" and watch the movie with the same title. There will be discussion questions, game/activity tie ins, and a final project.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5

The student will be reading the book, "Kiki's Delivery Service" by Eiko Kadona.  In week 4, the student will be watching the movie "Kiki's Delivery Service" produced by Hayao Miyazaki. There are 11 chapters in the book. Throughout the class, there will be discussion questions about the book and activities/games to tie in. During week 4, the student is watching the movie and student's final project presentation is due.

Students will be able to show comprehension of their reading and watching of the book and movie. Students could expand their creativity as shown by their final project or in the games/activities.

Students will need to be able to have access to their version of Minecraft if this is part of their final project. Students will need their own access to the book, "Kiki's Delivery Service" by Eiko Kadona. Students will need access to the movie, "Kiki's Delivery Service," through a local public library or movie streaming service.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Minecraft

Parental guidance needed as screening of learner's Minecraft shares may be posted in classroom for final project if this is student's final project. Student may be posting final project via screenshots which may be posted in classroom.
