I love gingerbread, don't you? Gingerbread cookies are so delicious in the winter, too! While we won't be cooking in this class, there are still lots of amazing activities to do. In this language arts flex class, children aged 6-9 will spend four weeks going over four different children's books. There are also lessons on key topics kids should know, including writing in complete sentences, proper capitalization, contractions, and point of view. This flex class focuses on critical language arts skills that kids need to know. Students will work on citing evidence from the text, identifying central messages, describing characters and parts of a book, comparing and contrasting, describing relationships, sequencing, and cause and effect. By participating in the lessons, students will also improve their writing skills. Lessons include lessons on key topics kids should know, including writing in complete sentences, proper capitalization, contractions, and point of view.
Homework Offered
In this class, students will work through the lessons via Nearpod. Each lesson should take between 30 minutes to one hour to complete. Students can complete these assignments individually.Assessments Offered
Since this is an academic course, students will receive a letter grade and a certificate messaged to them at the end of the course. Grades are based on the work they put in the Nearpod lessons.Grades Offered
Students will need art supplies like construction paper, glue, scissors, and crayons for the arts and crafts. Students don't need to purchase the books for this class, audio book versions are provided in the Nearpod lessons.
