Learn about the Fibonacci sequence of numbers with a creative measuring and drawing project.

Class Experience

This flexible-schedule class will provide a video introducing the concept of the Fibonacci sequence (in which each number is the sum of the previous two numbers), and demonstrating how to use the Fibonacci sequence to construct a spiral drawing.

Learners will be encouraged to colour or decorate their spiral in their own way, and will be asked to upload a picture of their finished work to the classroom to gain feedback from their peers and teacher.

Learners will practice measurement skills (ruler and compass drawing skills).

Learners will need:
- Plain or coloured paper (any size, but you may like to make a really big spiral!) - Grid/squared paper is optional but may help learners who find ruler measurement difficult.
- A ruler with cm or inches
- A pencil and eraser
- A pair of compasses (optional but really helpful)
- Colours/other art materials to decorate with!
