Fashion History by the Decade: Flappers of the 1920S
In this one-time course, students will explore the infamous flappers and how their style changed the face of fashion from the previous Victorian era.

This is a one time course that will analyze primary and secondary sources about the fashion, hair, and makeup styles of flappers in the 1920s. We will look at pictures, watch videos, and read short stories about the Roaring Twenties. We will also be discussing speakeasies during the Prohibition Era, so there will be minor discussion of alcohol (very minimal!). Late Victorian fashion varied greatly (long skirts, high necklines) from flappers and women of this era generally opposed the flapper fashion and lifestyle. We will compare and contrast these styles and why women of the Victorian Era may have opposed the flapper life.
