Drawing a Cornucopia
Learn to use colored pencils in new ways. This is a single time course. 1 and half hours long. I will walk student through the steps of the drawing one at a time.
Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
We will learn about the Cornucopia or Horn of Plenty and why that is connected to Thanksgiving day feasts. In a lighthearted and slightly silly session we will go through the steps together to create the drawing. I will discuss with students that mistakes happen and how we make them our friends. How we hold colored pencil for adding color is not how we hold a pencil to write. we will go through colored pencil techniques and how we can use them to make a 2d drawing look more like its...
This class is taught in English.
Student will learn identify and use 4-6 new colored pencil techniques. Student will learn new art and historical content involving the thanksgiving feasts of early orgin.
I have taught this lesson in a local elementary school to 6 graders and taught similar classes in mixed age art classes at local businesses in my area.
Homework Offered
Each student will need to have there own drawing paper, pencils, eraser, colored pencils, pencil sharpener. It would help if students have looked at images of a Cornucopia or have scene on in real time.Assessments Offered
students will hopefully leave this class being able to utilize these new drawing techniques. Students will be asked at the end of the class to hold up and share their drawings with the rest of the class.Grades Offered
drawing paper- has a tooth to it a little texture and is slightly thicker and more durable then copy paper. pencils - no 2 normal-- if you have a set of drawing pencils a 4h is nice but not necessary eraser - a pink pearl or a mars white plastic work best colored pencils- including black and white... the softer the colored lead the beter it blends.

I make jokes while i am teaching "Corny" jokes especially because we are discussing corn... I try to kept it light and fun and try to have kids not focus on perfectionism but on the experience and the learning are part oft he journey and mistakes are ok.. Bouts of singing are common especially since one of the techniques is varied pressure.
