Due to the nature of this course dealing with current events, there may be some difficult topics discussed. The topic for the class will be posted 24 hours in advance to give parents and students a chance to do any background research but that is not required. Students may have strong and potentially highly emotional expressions around topics covered in this course. For this reason, students will be allowed to turn off their cameras when needed (after initial verification), use the chat function instead of speaking aloud, and/or respond to the class in written form to the teacher. All of the subjects covered will be taught and discussed on a level that is suitable for this age of students.
We will used non-biased news websites for kids such as: newsela.com, newsforkids.net, timeforkids.com, tweentribune.com
