In this 5 week Chess Course, students will learn the Rules and Basics of Chess, Opening Principles, Middle Game Tactics, and Endgame Strategies, and The Scholar's Mate and Other Tricks.

Beginner - Intermediate Level

This Crash Course is 5 Sessions:
1. Rules and Foundations
2. Opening Principles 
3. Middle Game Tactics
4. Endgame Patterns
5. Scholar's Mate and Other Traps

The first session will be a review of the rules and foundations of Chess. In session 2, 3, and 4 students will learn best practice in each part of a chess game (beginning, middle, and endgame), finally the last lesson teaches a fun trick for how to beat unsuspecting opponents in four moves. Objective: Students will deepen their knowledge of Chess in the areas of Opening Principles, Middlegame Tactics, and common Checkmate patterns.
Success Criteria:
-Students will have a deeper understanding of Chess foundations
-Students will learn the 3 main principles to starting a game.
-Students will learn the 5 best tactics to gaining an advantage in the Middle Game
-Students will learn 3 common Checkmate Patterns for the endgame.
-Students will learn how to attack with and defend against the Scholar's Mate

I am a California Public School Educator (7 years experience). After playing and studying Chess for many years, as well as designing and implementing my own successful Chess Program at the school where I teach, I have become very knowledgeable in Chess. My strength is in my teaching style and my ability to deliver the content.
