Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
The Brain Games science class will meet twice a week for five weeks. Each week, we will focus on related organ systems. At the end of this course series, learners will know scientific terminology for organs, where the organs are located, and what functions they perform in the body. Learners will be empowered to take ownership of their learning experiences through readings, discussions, drawing and building visual models, and learning in gaming challenges. Here is the course outline: Week...
Learners will be able to name the organ systems, the individual organs of each system, and the structures and functions of the organs.
My mission and passion are to engage learners and empower them to take ownership of their learning experience. I have taught English, art, and science classes online for over five years. I enjoy learning and teaching about the brain, the nervous system, and all the other organ systems. I love watching the light come on in brilliant minds as knowledge seekers discover the magnificent and wondrous work of art and engineering that is the human body. I have a degree in psychology with a concentration in biology and English. I will be a student for as long as I breathe and have a brain that can absorb new information. I cannot wait to share my love for and knowledge of human anatomy with my students.
Homework Offered

This course contains lessons about the male and female reproductive systems. These are not sex education classes. However, scientific terminology, illustrations, and videos depicting male and female genitalia will be presented. I will use Nearpod and Genially to present the lesson and engage the learners with activities and quizzes. Learners will view short YouTube videos incorporated into the lesson material. We will use Gimkit and Blooket for gaming challenges to build learner knowledge and confidence in mastering the material. Learners will not need to have an account with learning or gaming platforms. I will provide links and codes to join the lesson and games.
The teacher will supply vocabulary words, diagrams, and visual models for each class.
