Around the World Country Study Classes - This Kid's Life

Class
Let's learn about how people live around the world. Students will learn customs & traditions of each country, while getting different stamps in their passport. Students will create a special craft for each country.

Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
I've lived in and travelled to many countries around the world. I want to share all of the things I've experienced in my life about different countries with your learners. I've created all of the materials for my class myself, with original artwork.
Homework Offered
Additional material is provided for each country, but it is optional.
Assessments Offered
Certificates are available upon request.
Grades Offered
For each class students will need the pdf that is sent beforehand to be printed. They should also have crayons/markers/color pictures, glue/paste, and scissors for each lesson in addition to the items below:

Week of Dec. 17: Japan - Create and decorate a Japanese paper fan (2 popsicle sticks)
Week of Dec. 24: Honduras - Create a Scarlet Macaw
Week of Dec. 31: Greece - Make a Laurel Wreath (paper plate)
Week of Jan. 7: Philippines Country Study - Create a Filipino Parol
Learning about countries in general can be a sensitive topic due to differences in religion and different cultures. We will be looking at countries from a secular point of view, making sure to look at the countries from multiple different perspectives around the world.
Students will receive a PDF packet each class with all of the information for class. There are readings and activities for each country, as well as crafts. Also, students are given a PDF with mini-books for each country that they can create as well.

The class packet is based on my first-hand accounts, and many primary and secondary sources especially depending on the country. Some of the main sources are:
