Poetry is a form of expression and can be a vehicle for exploring deep, emotional thoughts, memories, and ideas. Learners will be allowed to openly express themselves as long as there is an adherence to appropriate themes, language, and biases. This is a safe environment for learners to create and express themselves without judgment and positive constructive feedback will be provided regarding the learner's work. Learners will be allowed to bring in their own selected poetry from published writers for some sessions; however, all selections will be submitted and vetted prior to those sessions.
Both classical and contemporary poetry will be studied and selected according to the interests of the learners and the instructor.
