Average rating:5.0Number of reviews:(85)
In this one time, weekly, needs-based, 2:1 class, students will receive guided & supportive instruction in creative writing & language arts as they develop their techniques, find their voice, grow their confidence, and love for writing.

Class Experience

I have a Masters degree in Elementary Eduction, years of experience teaching 2nd and 3rd grade in the classroom, and years of experience teaching language arts and ESL on line to more than 1,000 students of varying ages. I have a passion for teaching, and a love of writing and reading in my free time.
Homework Offered
Sometimes students may be tasked with completing a writing experience from class so that we can work on it together in the following class. These tasks may include brainstorming, editing, coming up with a strong opening or closing sentence, adding details, or other activities deemed beneficial for your unique student. Students may also submit photos of their work so I may provide feedback.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
Your student will need plenty of writing paper and two sharpened pencils with erasers for each class.
It is recommended your student keep a journal (spiral bound or composition style notebook) to work in each class.

Sometimes I will provide graphic organizers or other printable activities for your student to use in class that will need to be printed prior to our meeting. I will always link these in the classroom ahead of time, alerting you I have provided supplemental materials.

*If your student is more comfortable typing, I am fine with them using a tablet or other device to write during class time as long as the device is used for writing purposes only throughout our session.
In this ongoing, once a week class, students will receive 2:1 private tutoring in writing and language arts skills based upon their needs. Parents will communicate the desired focus for our time together, and the ability level of their child, allowing me to meet the student right where they are at, and support them in their creative writing journey. Classes will be structured around the needs, skills, and goals of the student with support, encouragement, and engaging experiences.

**It is highly recommended your student take this class in a quiet environment, free from distractions, so they are able to focus on their thoughts and creative writing.
