Hi Families! We would like to extend you a warm welcome to our virtual school! For 5 years we have worked with Quantum Montessori™ families using our heart-centered learning program to assist in sparking a love of learning within your learner. This Elementary 1 (E1) class is designed for 1st and 2nd graders and focuses on hands-on, individualized learning to foster curiosity, independence, and collaboration. As part of the Montessori curriculum, students will engage in practical life,...
At Quantum Montessori, we understand that every learner is unique and learns differently, and that is why our learning pod is tailored to meet the individual needs and interests of each child. We believe that by creating a supportive and heart-centered learning environment, we can help our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. With this in mind, we strive to assist learners in achieving the following learning goals: 1. Develop Positive Social Skills: Learners in the 1st and 2nd grade will learn how to cooperate, communicate effectively, and respect their peers in a virtual learning environment. They will also learn to value the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of their pod mates. 2. Develop Self-Government/Regulation and Independence: Learners will learn how to manage their own learning and become more self-sufficient. They will learn to take responsibility for their work, manage their time effectively, and seek help when needed. 3. Foster a Love for Learning: In our learning pod, our top priority is to inspire a love for learning in our learners. We believe that when children are engaged and passionate about their education, they develop a lifelong love for learning that will stay with them throughout their lives. 4. Develop Critical Thinking Skills: Learners will be challenged to think critically, problem-solve, and make decisions independently. They will also develop their creativity and learn to approach tasks in different ways. 5. Build a Strong Foundation in STEAM: Through a combination of Montessori and STEAM-based activities, children will develop an understanding of science, technology, engineering, art, and math concepts. They will learn to apply these skills in real-world scenarios. 6. Cultivate Empathy and Compassion: Learners will have opportunities to learn about and empathize with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. They will also participate in community service projects to develop a sense of compassion and responsibility towards others. 7. Encourage a Healthy Lifestyle: Learners will learn about the importance of physical and mental health through age-appropriate activities and discussions. They will be encouraged to make healthy choices and develop healthy habits. 8. Develop Digital Literacy Skills: In today's digital age, it is important for learners to develop digital literacy skills. They will learn how to navigate and use technology safely and responsibly. 9. Encourage a Love for Nature: Learners will have opportunities to learn about the environment and develop an appreciation for nature. They will learn about sustainability, conservation, and taking care of the planet. 10. Foster a Growth Mindset: Learners will be encouraged to adopt a growth mindset and believe that they can develop their abilities through effort and practice. They will learn to embrace challenges and view mistakes as learning opportunities.
MACTE-trained Early Childhood and Elementary Guide, ASU Prep STEAM Educator, and homeschool parent. 🎉 We are delighted to introduce you to one of your educators and Quantum Montessori™ founder, Ms. Ashleigh Stevens, an Elementary Montessori Guide and homeschool mom to three children. Thank you for taking the time to explore our profile. We eagerly anticipate you joining us on your learning journey. I founded the Quantum Montessori Institute with a team of outstanding educators and leaders. I wanted parents to feel empowered to educate their children from home confidently, while also working, running a business, living an RV lifestyle, traveling the world, or simply seeking a hybrid learning environment. My passion for Montessori has led me to work with a diverse group of youth. My aim is to ensure an equitable experience, one that equally prioritizes the wellbeing of the child, parents, and educators.
Homework Offered
Each day learners should spend 1-2 hours working on independent asynchronous work. “Homework” is optional but recommended to take full advantage of this learning experience and to maintain homeschool records for your learner.4+ hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
We offer learners an opportunity to have a full learning assessment upon enrollment. Assessment materials will be provided to families to administer then reviewed by our educators to assist in developing an individualized learning plan.Grades Offered
Instead of traditional letter or number grades, students are evaluated based on their progress and mastery of specific skills and concepts. This allows children to focus on their own personal growth and development, rather than being compared to their peers. Quantum educators in collaboration with home-educators carefully observe and document each child’s progress, providing them with ongoing feedback and guidance for continued improvement. This grading system encourages a growth mindset, where children are motivated to constantly strive for personal excellence and deepen their understanding of various subjects. Through this approach, Quantum Montessori aims to create lifelong learners who are confident and self-motivated.
Supply lists and virtual Montessori learning materials, will be provided weekly in the classroom tab by the assigned teacher the Saturday before scheduled classes to give families time to prepare. Families should have access to a printer for optional supporting worksheets and resources.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
None of the class content will be upsetting or scary to learners, or require learners to take extra safety precautions. Learner access to third-party learning tools is included at no additional cost to families, and will be provided to every enrolled kindergarten learner before their first day of live classes if enrollment begins on a weekend. Tools are provided as an added resource to home-educators to reinforce guidance provided during class time. On occasion, Google slides will be shown on-screen during live classes and shared with home-educators via the classroom tab for at-home viewing. Quantum Montessori has created in-house and/or licensed a large library of virtual Montessori materials that will be shared via Google Drive to provide learners equal access to Montessori materials. Some materials (such as golden beads) must be printed and cut out before class so that learners have access to the same learning supports. To support learners growth, we offer assessments, require home-educator evaluation of learners and request home-educator feedback via Jotform. All materials shared during this class are for personal home use only and are not to be used commercially or shared with others. Quantum Montessori owns all the Intellectual Property unless stated otherwise boldly on the individual document. Minecraft and Roblox are used during learner-led social groups with parent permission and in accordance with Outschool policies.
