Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 1
One to one together we will explore the fun world of numbers at a Grade 1 level! Our initial visit will be to evaluate your learner's level and establish interests and abilities. Once we've establish this, I will build a program based on the Light Blue Math Mammoth program to meet the Common Core for Grade 1. Yvonne, B.Mus from McGill, has been a homeschooling mum for over 10 years. "I find that building skills in math is an everyday activity. It's easy to identify ways to incorporate math learning through a variety of sensory approaches. The best way to support a learner in math is to gamify elements to keep attention, repetition and worked examples with practice and discussion are what set this learning into long term memory. I am a homeschooling mum who has two very different learners. One has a severe brain injury and required many different approaches and my other learner struggles to complete worksheets but loves to incorporate math outdoors. Every learner is unique and that is why I would love to inspire each child to enjoy math in the way that they want to."
Homework Offered
There will be worksheets given for extra practice. It's advisable to do a little bit of math every day (even just 10 minutes) and I will provide guides for parents on how to incorporate activities into every day life. Grounding Math in meaningful learning is the key to keeping it active in our minds.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Grading will be observational by the instructor and, if desired, small check in evaluation tests can be conducted. I don't believe in high pressure learning and I incorporate a learner's interests, blending it into how we learn.Grades Offered
PDF or JPG printouts will be provided in the classroom. I will be using the Math Mammoth text books Light Blue Series for Grade 1 (A and B). You can purchase a copy yourself but the publisher has given me permission to print out pages for learners for practice. Depending on your learner, I might be selecting only parts of each section as work sheets as mastery of a concept is achieved.

Math Mammoth Level 1 Light Blue Book (with publisher's permission to provide work as printable pdfs for classes).
