Need more personalized instruction for your beginning reader? Do you feel your student needs a better foundation in phonics before the next school year? During the first session, your student will be screened for letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and placement for the Barton Reading and Spelling System, which is an Orton-Gillingham based program. In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Phonics lessons will take place on Google Jamboard, Whizzimo, Barton approved PDFs, or decodable readers. Brain breaks, in the form of reading games, will be on quizlet, bartongames, Hearbuilder, or Pixton. Selected and reviewed read aloud picture books will be on Kindle Reader for a reward at the end of our session. I will be providing a Hearbuilder login to parents so that students can work on phonemic awareness, auditory/visual memory, and direction following on their own time. I encourage parents to login to this app with their learner.
